Lorenzo López, Moira, Kearns, Victoria, Patterson, Eann and Curran, Jude (2026) In vitro hydrogel-cell model for pharmacokinetic analysis. [Data Collection]
Description
This study presents the development of a multicomponent in vitro model that combines an optimised synthetic vitreous humour analogue and an adherent retinal cell layer to study the transport and distribution of gold nanoparticles across the vitreous towards the retinal cell layer. This is achieved by exploiting the capabilities of an emerging label-free nanoparticle tracking platform, which can characterise the movement of nanoentities in complex biological environments. The platform also generates data that provides insight into the effects of mechanical, physical, and biological factors on nanocarrier movement.
