Quantitative Photoacoustic Imaging of Regional Kidney Changes in a Mouse Model of Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury

Moothanchery, Mohesh (2026) Quantitative Photoacoustic Imaging of Regional Kidney Changes in a Mouse Model of Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury. [Data Collection]

Description

This study investigated the utility of multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT), a photoacoustic imaging (PAI) technique, for longitudinal monitoring of r-IRI in a mouse model. PAI enabled real-time assessment of cortical oxygen saturation (mSO₂), while cortical renal filtration (FT) and excretion (ET) coefficients were evaluated using a near-infrared contrast agent. Nine mice with unilateral r-IRI were imaged at baseline, day 1, and day 15 to assess acute injury and recovery.
