Description

Summary This indicator measures the percentage of patients aged 16 years or over with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30. Numbers are given since 2007, across areas of England. Technical description The percentage of patients aged 16 years or over with a BMI greater than or equal to 30, measured within the previous 12-15 months. The denominator used to calculate the prevalence may include patients below the age of 16. GP practices reporting >100% obesity prevalence are excluded from the calculation. QOF data by GP practice and year were provided by the data owners. These data were used to calculate weighted averages of the indicator by Lower Super Output Area (LSOA).
