If using this dataset, authors are asked to cite both this data archive and the Metals manuscript. Two sets of complementary data are included in this collection: Thermoelastic Stress Analysis (TSA) data and Acoustic Emission (AE) data, organised in separate folders. Data from testing on one specimen is shown in the paper and is this archive, further specimens were tested but results are not reported. Data is therefore sometimes referred to as "Specimen 2" data. TSA Data: Raw data in .txt files is Thermoelastic Stress Analysis data, as output from a DeltaTherm 1780 system (Stress Photonics, Madison, WI). Data are formatted as a 256 (h) x 320 (w) pixel matrix, each datapoint corresponds to a pixel measurement of TSA signal magnitude. File names are the time in seconds at which the data set was collected, after fatigue loading began. Data collected as part of the INSTRUCTIVE project (funded by the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020, Clean Sky 2, project number 686777), project duration: January 2016-December 2018. AE data: The file 'Spec2_AEdata_RAW.DTA' is the raw data collected by a MISTRAS Group, Inc. PCI2 AEWin acquisition system. If extracted using AEWin, the .DTA file contains all of the AE data collected; the hit information, the waveforms, as well as the recording parameters that were used to collect the data. If AEWin is not accessible to the user, the extracted data is also included: File 'Spec2_AE_hit_signal_features' is a text file with all the features (time of arrival, amplitude, rise time, etc) of each AE hit recorded by AEWin. File 'Spec2_EventLocationsAndFeatures' is a text file containing all of the locations calculated using Delta-T Mapping, as well as the features of each of the waves which were used to calculate each location. The folder “ExtractedWaveforms” contains 15,315 .csv files containing the extracted waveforms for every hit recorded during the test. The information on which sensor recorded each wave and the time of recording is contained within the header lines of the .csv file.
