This data set contains raw video files (.avi) of anaerobe Porphyromonas gingivalis in DMEM (Dulbecco’s modified Eagle medium) supplemented with 10% FBS (fetal bovine serum) directly above a human gingival fibroblast cell layer (control and stimulated with 1 µg LPS for 24 hours). Bacteria were visualised using the technique developed by Patterson and Whelan (2008) using a Zeiss Axio Observer inverted microscope. Videos were taken using the Zeiss Axio Cam 305 mono and 40x objective lens. The pixel size is 0.086µm x 0.086µm. T1, 2 and 3 refers to three timepoints which were 15 minutes, 2 hours and 24 hours respectively. H0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 refer to heights relative to the surface of the monolayer at which bacteria were tracked which were 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 µm. Bacteria were visualised whilst inside an incubator stage maintained at 37C throughout the tracking process for the first 2 hours. Samples were incubated in a standard incubator following the 2-hour measurement until the final timepoint at 24 hours.
